Recent achievements

On 27th May 2026, an orientation session on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) was successfully conducted by Shakti Milan Samaj with the board and staff members. The session provided valuable insights and enhanced our understanding of the importance of SRHR in promoting dignity, health, equality, and empowerment for women and girls.
As an organization working closely with women and girls living with HIV, survivors of trafficking, and victims of gender-based violence, the session was especially relevant and highly fruitful for strengthening our knowledge, sensitivity, and professional capacity. The interactive discussions and shared experiences encouraged meaningful reflection and learning among all participants.
We sincerely extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Laxmi Tamang for facilitating such an informative and inspiring session and for contributing to our continued commitment toward supporting vulnerable women and girls with compassion, rights-based approaches, and inclusive care.

SMS on June 2nd, 2026 conducted a sensitization program with our brave women on their experiences of violence and stigma especially gender-based violence and probable ways to respond to it such as policies, mechanisms and protocols.
We were pleasantly surprised with such effective participation of our beneficiaries who reported positive changes and a sense of confidence and agency to enjoy dignity and move forward in life.

Shakti Milan Samaj family, in its core value recognizes the power of education. Education, especially for those that are least advantaged and have faced multiple layers of marginalization. After conducting an orientation session on HIV, human trafficking and social media safety with students from Samata Shikshya Niketan and Shram Rashtriya Secondary School, we have now provided copies to these students in order to ensure that these exemplary students have resources to smoothly further their education and without any barriers.
We hope to continue such collaboration in the coming future as well.

Shakti Milan Samaj, on 18th May 2026 conducted a Consultation and Discussion Meeting with ART counsellors, health service providers and relevant CSOs to ensure smooth implementation of health-related services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
The consultation meeting concluded with a collective recognition that despite the continued commitment of health institutions and service providers, significant challenges remain in ensuring consistent viral load testing, follow-up, and comprehensive care for people living with HIV, particularly among key populations and clients outside Kathmandu Valley, highlighting the urgent need for strengthened coordination, sustained funding, decentralized services, and collaborative interventions among all stakeholders.
We are beyond grateful to have implemented this activity in collaboration with Cruiseaids Nepal and are thankful to Samata Bam for meaningful facilitation of the session.

Shakti Milan Samaj on 21st May 2026, in collaboration with NAP+N and Recovery Nepal Federation conducted a discussion meeting on the curriculum and content discussion and revision for grade 6, 7, 8 and 9 especially related to HIV/AIDS under Health, Physical and Creative Arts Subject.
We are very much grateful for such meaningful participation and active involvement from the Curriculum Development Centre of Nepal, respected writers from several departments and specialties, and relevant stakeholder. We are hopeful that children learning about HIV/AIDS receive the best and accurate information about HIV/AIDS and are taught from early on that HIV status does not equal to stigma or discrimination and People living with HIV/AIDS can actually lead a dignifies lives just like the rest of us.
We hope that no child infected with HIV has to receive any misleading and inaccurate information from their teachers and textbooks.

SMS successfully conducted an interaction program with the beneficiaries and their family members about the experiences of GBV by our HIV infected women.
We emphasized on the importance of meaningful and respectful communication promoting peaceful interactions among family members so that our women feel accepted and loved by their family members.

Shakti Milan Samaj on 4th February 2026 conducted a coordination meeting with respective health service providers and relevant stakeholders including local government representatives and specialists regarding the service gaps in HIV-related health services.
The discussion held great importance in realizing the need of shared effort and response in mitigating the increasing number of HIV infection and gaps in terms of access to adequate health related services.

SMS on 2nd April 2026 conducted a sensitization program with private sector professionals on the experiences of violence, stigma and workplace harassment faced by women living with HIV/AIDS, survivors of trafficking and victims of gender-based violence.
The session covered important issues relating to the importance of adequate formulation and implementation of corporate policies and the growing need for collective action towards eliminating violence against women, especially at the workplace.
We are grateful for such impactful facilitation by Sandhya Shrestha Ma'am.

Shakti Milan Samaj successfully conducted an orientation program with health service providers about the recent updates and protocol regarding HIV/AIDS consultation and checkup.
Dr. Sabin Thapaliya amazingly coordinated the session and remarked how abidance to protocols and universal standards contribute largely to ending stigma discrimination and unequal access for people living with HIV/AIDS.

This is for our caregivers; we see them, we see their strength and capacity to continuously show up to work, help uplift each other and build a better community for all.
Realizing the importance of preserving our leaders' mental well-being, a self-care activity was implemented on 19th June 2025 with the help of Ms. Anuradha Acharya. The staff and board members have reported a positive shift in their mental well-being and overall health.
